Emile Waldteufel was born 1837 in Strasbourg and left us 1915. He was a wonderful , a brilliant waltz-maker (Emile Zola), the French waltz-king, a sort of French Strauss, as the famous pianiste Alexander SOREL calls him . He has written nearly 300 opus-registered waltzes (and several polkas), & many further waltzes, polkas, marches etc., that he dedicated nearly all to famous personages and personalities like Zar Alexandre III, many princes(ses), duchesses, baron(esses)s, marquesses, generals etc.
